I've been reading through the book of Psalms backwards. I have learned so much and have been encouraged by this journeying backwards through the Psalms. There have been days when the Psalm that I read for that day fits perfectly into my life for that day. God has definitely showed me that He is in control by how He has matched the Psalms to fit my needs for each day.
...
Psalm 28:6-8
Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
.
I love how God is close when we need him. He hears me when I cry to him. He is my strength and my shield. Something that I have been learning recently - that He is all I need. For too long I tried to live my life and give a slice of life to Him. Now I see that I have had the wrong outlook on life. My life belongs to Him. He is truly all I need.
..
Psalm 27:8
My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, Lord, I will seek.
..
I really want Psalm 27:8 to be a theme verse for my life, for each day. How much could I learn, what could God do with my life, if I kept His face always before me? I'm sure I would live life a lot different if I sought His face 24 hours 7 days a week.
..........
Psalm 25:10
All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant.
.
I have been going through a devotional by Frances Roberts. In it she says "Rest in the knowledge that My ways are perfect and My grace is all sufficient. My help is adequate no matter what may befall you." I love how God cannot deny Himself. He is always faithful and always good. He is always love and always my Help. But I have to be faithful in keeping His word.
..........
Psalm 19:7
The Law of the Lord is perfect reviving the soul. The statues of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
..
God's word is perfect and it is active in reviving my soul. I found it interesting that so often I read other books that are man made instead of spending hours in the perfect Word of God. So often I give less than my best to God because I slack in soaking in the Word of God.
.....Psalm 18: 30-32
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
.
This past month, it has been a comfort to know that God's way is perfect. He does not make mistakes. He has been my refuge and has been my comforter. I love the last part of the verse where it says that God makes my way perfect. I can't make my way perfect, only God can. This leads to another lesson that I have been learning, that of surrender and trust. I have to surrender my life to GOd and trust Him to make my life perfect. It's a beautiful thing but scary at the same time. Complete surrender and perfect trust.
.......Psalm 16:11
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
...
Jesus is the way to true life. He has given me joy when I've been broken and helpless. He is too good to me.
.....Psalm 13:5-6
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.
..
God's love and His salvation is amazing. Because His love never fails I can trust Him with my everything. Even in the hard times God has been good to me. He has surrounded me with His love and peace. I just wonder what the future holds...
.......Psalm 12:6
And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.
..
This verse is a challenge to me to spend more time in GOd's word.
......
......
Well, I have a few more days until I reach Psalm 1, so part 3 of my adventures in the Psalms will be here later.
